The Daily Astro for November 15, 2013

 by Valerie Sylvester

TODAY’S ASPECTS:

The Moon enters Taurus at 9:49 AM EST today, slowing the pace from yesterday’s mad Aries dash to more of a determined lope. We may feel like down-shifting to start the weekend early as the Moon sextiles Neptune in Pisces at 2:40 PM EST. We’re willing to be content in our little corner of the world, at least for a while. This is one of those “see the universe in a grain of sand” times. Slow down and just appreciate everything this big ol’ world has to offer.

At 3:48 PM EST the Moon forms a stress aspect with Mars, followed by the Moon’s ruler, Venus, making a conjunction with Pluto in Capricorn at 4:29 PM EST. There’s a few ways this one can play out. The Moon in Taurus can be stubborn, and in a clash with Mars in Virgo, it can mean we’re determined and excessively precise and fussy about having our way and getting EXACTLY what we want, no matter the obstacles or opposition. It takes a lot to rile Taurus the Bull, but get out of the way when it starts snorting and pawing the ground. Venus usually is pretty good at enticing and smoothing things over, but in Capricorn the temperature drops and when she hooks up with Pluto, it’s dominatrix time!  Is it desire or obsession? Give a listen to one of the creepiest obsesso-stalkerific songs ever–Elvis Costello’s “I Want You.”   Each and every time he sings “I want you” it gets skeevier.  Where is he, peeping through the blinds of someone’s house? Ick.  Maybe it’s time to look at those unhealthy attachments. There’s huge power here, the question is, what are you going to do with it? Control freaks come crawling out of the woodwork as though they’ve been summoned. So you better watch how you wield those magnetic powers, or you’ll attract the wrong stuff.  Venus/Pluto entwined like this also can signify fated attractions or people we get together with in order to burn through mountains of karma. It’s those people you never forget or can’t quit.

Venus/Pluto is also about resources and talents.  Buried treasure!  Do you have any hidden talents? What have you been itching to do? What needs to be unleashed or let loose? Follow that passion. Turn dross into gold. This combination also can relate to renovation, redecoration, recycling from old to new, reconfiguring and making something beautiful from something leftover, left behind or antique. Beauty that transforms or liberates, or seeing value in what’s been neglected or discarded, society’s refuse.

A Moon/Mercury opposition at 6:34 PM EST can mean lines get drawn in the sand. Tempers flare and it’s hard to compromise with someone who won’t budge from their position. No one’s listening, they’re too busy defending themselves. There’s too much attachment when we need detachment.  Don’t get nasty. Subjects that get people hot under the collar: sex, money, other people’s “stuff” and jealousy or resentment over same. A Sun in Scorpio/Uranus in Aries clash at 12:01 AM EST means it could be one of those night where arguments explode and somebody bolts, slamming the door behind them. They’ll regret it later tomorrow, but it may take a while to clear the air.

   THE SYMBOLS:

Sabian Symbol for today’s SUN:   Crowds coming down the mountain to listen to one man. “

Kozminsky Symbol for today’s SUN:   A wearied traveller on a hot, dusty road obtaining a drink of water from a peasant girl.”  (Influence isMOON.)

The Keyword for the Sabian Symbol is:  “APPEAL.”

The Keyword for the Kozminsky Symbol is: ”RECIPROCITY.”

Today’s Kozminsky Symbol is about having faith and trusting the universe. Keep going, assistance is near, even if we’ve been walking a difficult path. Take time to refresh yourself along the way. This Symbol relates to all the changes and hardships that we face during our lives and how our attitude determines how we get through difficulties. Giving and receiving create balance. We all return to the source eventually. Be thankful, be grateful. Return to the basics, ground yourself (the Moon’s in Taurus today).

The Sabian Symbol is about willingness to accept inspiration and spiritual guidance. The figure coming down from the mountain (higher wisdom) shares with the populace below. It’s about being a conduit and learning to transmit information so that everyone can understand it. Like the Kozminsky Symbol above, people are on a quest for refreshment and sustenance and will walk a hard road to find it. Knowledge and the transmission of ancient wisdom is emphasized. Direct and plain communication works best now; adjust the way you speak and convey information to fit the needs of your audience. The Moon’s in Taurus (be practical).  On the down side, it’s about setting yourself up as an authority, being pompous or talking down to people. Check the source of all information you receive. Are you being too gullible? Is someone trying to deceive or manipulate you? Think for yourself, don’t rely on outside authority figures. Magnetic or charismatic authority figures (Venus/Pluto) can be charming but may abuse their power for personal gain.

THE DAILY DRAW

4 of Wands / Ace of Swords

“The Calm Before the Storm”

It’s time to establish a home base, a think tank, somewhere you can hunker down and gestate new ideas. Where do you feel comfortable and secure? Build on a solid foundation (4 = foundation, walls, the Emperor card). It’s hard work, but we’re in the home stretch. By January things may change radically and it’ll be time to move into a new way of thinking.  Detach and observe. Gather the forces, collect allies, batten down the hatches and make sure all’s clear on the home front. Be logical, make plans for future harvest. This combination can mean working from home, or that you come up with your best ideas in a familiar environment. Operating from a position of power.

Take a break over the holiday season and return, refreshed, in January. Take the best of the old, toss the rest, and make it new. We may be anxious about the pace of change. A break from “reality” provides a new view of the future . Seek clarity. Unexpected changes in residence or family matters force our hand. Old habits die hard.  A new dynasty rises from the ashes of the old.
